Discord displays custom emoji at 128 × 128 pixels, and that is the size you should upload — a square PNG under 256 KB. Discord accepts larger files but simply shrinks them, so preparing a clean 128 × 128 file yourself keeps the emoji sharp. For an animated Discord emoji, the recommended canvas is 256 × 256 pixels.
